Due Date: 11 October 2011. 2 weeks to go. If you need me, I’ll be hiding under the bed…
Weight Gain: has slowed down a lot in the last two months. 28 lbs.
Waist measurement: 99cm. That’s more than 3 feet, people.
Symptoms: Tired. Who are these mythical women in the pregnancy books who have all this energy in the weeks before the birth? Nesting schmesting. Yesterday I went shopping in the afternoon and was so tired afterwards, riding the bus home, that I seriously considered taking the bus to the end of the line just so I could sit for longer.
Cravings/Aversions: Craving sleep. Aversion to activity.
Sleep: Yes please.
I am loving: Our new apartment. The sofa.
I miss: Being able to wear all these teeny, tiny, almost doll-sized clothes I unpacked the other day when I was putting away summer clothes and taking out winter clothes. Apparently these things shrink in storage? Or how am I ever going to fit into them again?
Are you nesting? God no. Are you? Wanna come over and do it for me?
This week I have mostly been: A Hausfrau. Going for walks, sitting on the sofa, and shopping for clothes dryers. Have I mentioned that living in Europe is so glamorous?
I am stressing over: The sad fact that there is apparently no reliable signal that birth is about to happen (apart from, you know, birth contractions.) E.g. books say “bloody show = labor within 3 days!” and the midwife is like “girl, please. That is such a lie.” Come on, Mini-H! Come out already! We have cookies!
Movement: *hic*….*hic*….*hic*….*hic*…
Exercise: Waddling, gym.
Diet: Apples, cheese, and lots of protein/calcium.
Exercise goal for the upcoming week: At this point I’m thinking it’s ok to taper for the birth…running will happen again soon enough, and the increased practice contractions plus general pelvic area soreness mean I’m happy just waddling for now, and lifting the occasional weight just in case it’s really doing anything. For a while I thought my muscles were just hiding under the fat layer, but now I’m pretty convinced that pregnancy just makes you weak.
Belly Shot: From Sunday:

Not much longer now!
omg. I know………
Holy scheiße, you look amazing! I hate you. Some people want to be cowboys, I want to be a hausfrau.
I know I clown on midwives, but I think it would be worth my hard-earned, non-insurance covered dollars to have a lady tell me “girl, please!” every now and then.
LOL! She’s German, so she didn’t really say “girl, please!” It was more like “Ach. Naja. Stimmt nicht so ganz.”
Being a Hausfrau under these circumstances (full pay + perfect excuse not to do any actual housework) is awesome. I highly recommend it.
Oh btw, thank you for the compliment.
You look great! The end of pregnancy is exhausting, ugh! And rock ON for making it running this far.
Thank you for the compliment and the validation that it is ok to be this tired (although in a few weeks I’ll look back and wonder what I was bitching about…) Though I should clarify that I stopped running a few weeks ago. It just got too painful.
You look ridiculously fantastic! I have no idea where you think you’re hiding an additional almost 30 pounds, but I think you may have made that number up.
I agree that the end of pregnancy is exhausting. The last thing I want to do all day is chase around and active toddler while being pregnant. Two weeks from your due date… hurray!
Well thank you, but the extra 12.8 kg are sadly real. Where is it all hiding? Here’s a clue: This photo is taken from the front…
Chasing a toddler while pregnant sounds SO TIRING. But the story about Isaac in the breastfeeding class was hilarious
You look phenomenal – and in horizontal stripes, no less! I hopehopehope when I am one day 38 weeks preggers that I look as fit and happy
PS Won’t you drop somethng like 18 pounds the day you give birth? Easiest day of weight loss EVER!
Well, thank you
But I really wasn’t kidding about the camera angle. . . and yeah, I read that all the essential baby stuff (baby, megauterus, extra blood, amniotic fluid, general bloat etc) adds up to 15 lbs!
OMG! You look incredible. I think I carry a bump bigger than that after I eat dinner!
Thanks Lize
I just ate dinner and now my bump is twice as big…
